I’m a PhD candidate working on Gurung, a Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Nepal. My research combines corpus and EEG methods to investigate how discourse-based grammatical features, specifically discourse-conditioned ergativity, are processed by adults and acquired by children. As part of this work, I’m developing a corpus of child language acquisition in Gurung. More broadly, I’m interested in how flexibility in language processing and acquisition reflects the structural demands of morphosyntactically diverse languages.
